The management of the club is carried out by the committee who meet 8 times per year. All roles below were appointed at the third club AGM held on Thursday 19th October 2023. The committee is voted for by the club membership at the club AGM annually every October. Any full member of the club can put themselves forward for nomination for any of the eight available positions or ordinary member role.

All Roles

All Committee members should:


  • Be responsible for the governance and strategic development of the club
  • Be responsible for organising club run sessions
  • Welcome and support runners of all abilities
  • Regularly attend Club runs, social events and races
  • Adhere to club Policies and Procedures


President

  • Be accountable, with other officers, for governance of the club
  • Manage the strategic development of the club
  • Lead implementation of the club's aims
  • Create and support initiatives to foster a friendly club atmosphere
  • Establish links with other Frontrunner groups and the wider running community
  • Ensure fiscal governance
  • Chair committee meetings, or authorise proxy
  • Lead and manage committee members’ work
  • Support members who take responsibility for club activities
  • Keep up to date with governance in sports generally
  • Report to the AGM

Vice President

  • To support the club President in governance of the club
  • To provide support to members on all matters relating to welfare, safety, and well-being
  • Act as the main contact for all issues of welfare, concerns, complaints and inclusion on behalf of the committee
  • To promote safety to all members
  • Ensure compliance with Scottish Athletics Welfare Policy
  • To establish and maintain complaints procedures
  • To establish and maintain links with Welfare bodies (e.g. LEAP) 


Treasurer

  • Be responsible for financial governance, including statutory and management accounting reporting (maintaining appropriate accounting records, reporting actual performance and forecasts/business plans to committee and AGM, as appropriate)
  • Be responsible for compliance with UK taxation requirements
  • Manage the bank account and cash-flow to minimise bank charges
  • Be responsible for timely payment of all expenses, including ensuring compliance with delegated authorities as stipulated in constitution
  • Be responsible for ad-hoc financial involvement with sponsorship and funding applications
  • Oversee ordering and purchasing of kit

Secretary

  • Service committee meetings (agenda, minutes, papers, etc)
  • Service the AGM and any EGMs (agenda, minutes, papers, elections)
  • Maintain the club constitution, policies and procedures
  • Maintain the club membership, subscriptions, emergency details and attendance records (including Spond)
  • Respond to enquiries/correspondence from the website and email

Communication Officer

  • Primary responsibility for communicating all club information, including, but not limited to upcoming runs, events, social activities, trip plans etc to members, updating website content, newsletters, press releases and announcements on Facebook, Instagram and Spond with content as agreed by committee
  • Draft and publish social media and other adverts as required for club events such as weekly runs, Rainbow Runs, Pride events etc.
  • Update club details with other groups that display AFR web links 

Run Organiser

  • Be responsible for organising club run sessions
    Organise monthly Jog Leader rota
  • Plan training sessions for the group and manage the provision of training plans for members
  • Manage training routes, providing reports on the successes of these to the committee
  • Ensure a suitably qualified coaching team, organise succession planning, and provide access to relevant Scottish Athletics qualifications
  • Liaise with the Committee the calendar of races and events, communicating this to the committee and members
  • Liaising with committee members to organise club races

Ordinary Members

(Up to 4)

Shared jobs among Ordinary Members will include, but not be limited to:



  • Organise regular club social events
  • Maintain a calendar of club events throughout the year
  • Liaise with Run Organiser to create a race calendar for the year
  • Arrange hosts for exchange visits with other groups
  • Identify suitable person to organise travel and accommodation for group events
  • Co-ordinate discussion with relevant parties (sponsors, venues, local authorities etc)
  • Establish links with other sports clubs and Frontrunners for possible activities
  • Carry out tasks that help to support all committee members
